CD&R Foundation Expands Team with the Appointment of Emma Van Susteren as Foundation Director, Europe

Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (“CD&R” or the “Firm”) today announced that the CD&R Foundation (the “Foundation”) has appointed Emma Van Susteren as Foundation Director, Europe. In this new role, Ms. Van Susteren will lead the Foundation’s activities in Europe, building on its first three years of operation to scale reach and further impact. Ms. Van Susteren will work closely with the Foundation’s U.S. based team and leadership. 

Ms. Van Susteren brings to this role almost 15 years of experience across private, government and non-profit sectors. Most recently, Ms. Van Susteren spent five years at Vox Media, culminating her tenure as Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs. In this position, Ms. Van Susteren directed executive, crisis and internal communications while also developing the company’s corporate citizenship platform. Prior to this, Ms. Van Susteren was Chief of Staff at healthcare start-up, ‘Groups: Recover Together’, an opioid use disorder care platform based in New York City. Ms. Van Susteren’s nonprofit work includes time at America Achieves, where she helped design a national initiative to revamp career pathways for young adults. Her roles in government have included positions with the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.

As well as her day-to-day responsibilities leading and growing the Foundation’s grant-making program in Europe, Ms. Van Susteren will also manage the London FGS Council, the Foundation's employee-led governance body.

Ms. Van Susteren holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University and a Master of Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
